For those of you who have come to our store, you are greeted by our store cat, Birdy. Birdy came to the store when she was 9 weeks old, and other than regular visits to the Vet, she is in the store 24/7. She's VERY good at protecting our valuble inventory of seed!
This page will be for tid bits of news about something seen or heard from a fellow customer or from other Wild Bird Unlimited store owners and passed along through BIRDY SAYS..... as a casual way to convey information every few days.

Many customers have come into the store since my last writing saying "where are all my birds?" We've agreed that we too are seeing fewer birds at our feeders the past month. But since the cold snap last week, NOW they are coming to the feeders. I've read that this is a "mast" year, meaning an abundance of natural food available this Fall. This includes berries also. As we've always told our customers: birds will always eat bugs first, then any natural foods, then they will come to your feeders.
I imagine with the cold, fewer bugs are available, but we haven't had a freeze yet - so the natural food is still there. However, we caution for you not to be "caught short" and to get those feeders cleaned and ready for the winter traffic of birds. You don't want to be straightening that pole or rearranging your tree hook in freezing temperatures!
